#Beliefs – Be careful what you believe, your life depends on it

Without beliefs, we have no principles. Without principles, we have no convictions and are not anchored. Without anchors, we are drifting away. And with drifting, we have no control of our destination. Without control, we are at the mercy of life situations.

Surely such life leads to hopelessness.

Con artists are a menace to society. But their ingenuity is admirable. They are smart and often don’t need to rely on sophisticated schemes to con victims. What makes their devious schemes effective is not so much that their plans are cunning, but mainly because they play on the pride of victims, their fears and trivialisation of common sense defences.

– Graft: We are to blame for the scourge of corruption

Corruption was the leverage used by the sophisticated and power hungry to corruptly cling to power and privileges. Corruption nowadays is the pastime of ordinary people.

Doing one’s job has been replaced with an attitude of “greasing palms first” before serving needs. Objectivity is no longer acceptable. Bribery is the instrument for advancement.

This article attempts to encourage those opposed to graft to be vigilant and to limit opportunities for corruption to thrive in their sphere of influence. Continue reading
